Air Force Vice Chief of Staff Gen. Larry Spencer presents this years Cheney Award to MSgt Joseph Brownell during a ceremony which was held at the Pentagon on November 1, 2012. Brownell won the award for a harrowing rescue mission to extract a medically distressed civilian hiker and his son from the Cascade Mountains of Washington state. The award is named after 1st Lt.
