In case you haven’t been anywhere near the Internet for the last few weeks, a little movie called Star Wars: The Force Awakens opened this weekend. (Spoiler alert: It was a lot of fun.) Pretty much everybody jumped on the Star Wars bandwagon (including Military Times, with our “Pick your Star Wars battle buddy” poll). And as the movie entered theaters late last week, the 45th Space Wing at Patrick Air Force Base in Florida also joined in the fun.
The 45th has filmed a trailer parodying the first teaser for Force Awakens, using airmen to stand in for Stormtrooper deserter Finn, desert scavenger Rey, hotshot X-wing pilot Poe Dameron, and evil Kylo Ren as the original dialogue, music and sound effects play. (Their version of the droid BB-8 and the Millennium Falcon’s blastoff are particularly nice touches.)
The Navy did their own Star Wars trailer a month ago, starring seamen on the USS Eisenhower. (But even though they were first, the Navy didn’t have an actual rocket ship in theirs.)
Give it a watch and sound off below with your thoughts. But please, no spoilers! Even though the movie made half a billion dollars around the world (seriously), there’s still a lot of people who haven’t had the chance to see it yet.
