Whether you’re a supporter of the DOMA ruling or not, we’re not here to badger you on your beliefs. But we are here to smack down some rumors. This photo has been circulating social media sites with claims that this U.S. Air Force held a flyover in support of the June 26 DOMA ruling; they used colored smoke trails behind the aircraft to reflect the rainbow of colors that became the standard symbol of the gay community in the 1970s. This week the Air Force posted some interesting photos of the Colorado Air National Guard’s 140th Fighter Wing in action, training alongside Jordanian F-16s and U.S. Marine Corps F/A-18s for exercise Eager Lion. The F-16s were deployed for the training, which wrapped up last week. The Jordanian government requested that the F-16s stay due to the civil war in Syria. The Air Force says that the training is focused “on missions the United States and its coalition partners might perform in support of global contingency operations.”
Four military working dogs — three Air Force, one Army – retired today at the first Joint Base San Antonio military working dog retirement ceremony at Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph. The military working dogs, assigned to the 802nd Security Forces Squadron at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, 902nd SFS at Randolph and 31st Engineer Battalion at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., received a certificate of meritorious service and a special retirement collar at the ceremony. The passing of James Gandolfini sparked major tribute to the actor and his long-lived career this week. While he’s most popularly known for his role as Tony Soprano from the HBO series “The Sopranos,” Gandolfini had other projects he honored even more. “So many people are remembering him as Tony Soprano. Lockheed Martin passed along this photo today of the F-35A completing the first in-flight missile launch earlier this week. The F-35A AF-1 launched an AIM-120 AMRAAM during a flight over the Point Mugu Sea Test Range off the coast of California. The missile was launched from an internal weapons bay. The test the first of several targeted launches scheduled this year as the Joint Strike Fighter prepares for its Block 2B software capability. The Air Force announced last week that it is looking for initial operating capability on the Block 2B software in December 2016.
Dover airmen and their families now have a way to come together for worship, for thanks and even for grief. A ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony was held Feb. 25 at the new chapel center at Dover Air Force Base, Del., celebrating chaplains, lawmakers and airmen who made the new chapel a reality. “I’m reminded of all the spiritual needs of the men and women of Dover,” said Rep. John Carney in his opening remarks. “This is in support of those fallen warriors.” Dover has served as the port mortuary since the 1950s, welcoming home thousands of fallen warriors. In…

The Falcons are 15-8, 6-4 in the Mountain West Division so far. No word on if the uniforms are the new light weight ABUs, or if those haven’t yet made it to Colorado Springs.
Eglin Air Force Base, Fla., this week posted this picture of the first F-35A four ship formation flying Jan. 31 over the Gulf of Mexico. Pilots and maintainers flew two formations in one day, one in the morning and ground crews turning the four around for another flight in the afternoon, according to a base release. During the training, pilots tracked F-16 “adversaries” during the flight.
