Sen. John McCain has a new daughter-in-law. And she’s an Air Force reserve captain. People Magazine reports that the senator’s son, Jack, married Renee Swift over the weekend in San Francisco. Swift, 29, met Lt. McCain, 27, in Guam, where he serves as a helicopter pilot in the Navy. According to Swift’s LinkedIn, she is the chief financial officer in the 36th Medical Group at Andersen Air Force Base, Guam. Talk about long-lost treasure. John Dodds, a retired member of the Air Force reserve, and his daughter were shopping around a Goodwill thrift store in Washington, D.C. when his daughter spotted something Dodds was pretty familiar with: a WWII bomber jacket. Dodds purchased the jacket, labeled “Robert G. Arand” for $17, and 24 hours later was on the phone with the jacket’s owner, first reported by Stars and Stripes. The Department of Defense announced today that the the Air Force active and reserve components met their recruiting and retention benchmarks fiscal year-to-date 2011, through May. The Air Force had 18,444 accessions, which was its fiscal year-to-date 2011 recruiting goals. DoD said the service is on track to meet its fiscal year-to-date 2011 retention goals. The Air National Guard had 4,529 accessions, with a goal of 4,523; while the Air Force Reserve had 6,079 accessions, with a goal of 6,194. DoD said that both components are on target to achieve their fiscal year attrition goals.
